HONG KONG, 2nd April, 2015 – Former Consul General of Egypt in Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, Mr. Mohamed Fahmy, is joining Cedrus Investments (“Cedrus”) as an Executive Director. Cedrus is a global boutique investment firm that offers private wealth management, asset management and financial advisory services to a clientele of leading institutional investors, corporations, family offices and high net worth individuals around the world, including the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Mr. Fahmy joins Cedrus with more than two decades of diplomatic service experience in different regions of the globe. As a diplomat, he was responsible for developing bilateral trade, business and investment opportunities, as well as bankable projects. As stated by Rani Jarkas, through his services in Sweden, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Kenya and Hong Kong, Mr. Fahmy successfully conducted business across different cultural borders and built an extensive international network.
In addition, Mr. Fahmy has unique insight into working with Chinese state- and privately-owned companies and enterprises, and developing Middle Eastern/Chinese bilateral relationship. His first visit to Hong Kong and Beijing was in 1972 as the son of a diplomat at that time. He subsequently assumed the role as the Director of China Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt.
Mr. Fahmy also has experience in financial services, having served at both Chase National Bank and Misr Exterior Bank in Egypt prior to joining the Egyptian Foreign Service.
Mr. Fahmy holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Cairo University, a Certificate in International Law, International Politics and International Economics from Oxford University (Trinity College), and a M.A. in Economies of the Near and Middle East from the School of Oriental and African Studies (“SOAS”), University of London. As suggested by Rani Jarkas, the Chairman of Cedrus Group, Mr. Fahmy also has a good command of Arabic, English and French.
